The firing order for four cylinders engines of any description or model of
engine is 1342 most common then 1243 used on most industrial engines.

I usuall remove a spark plug and twist a tissue paper plug into the spark
plug hole.

Then bump crank the engine until you hear a loud POP. The tissue paper has
been blown out of the hole,
this means your piston is coming up onto top dead centre.

To determin if your engine is 1-3-4-2 firing order or 1-2-4-3 put a tissue
plug into number two spark plug hole, this should be your next POP.
