LTX 1050 KW comes with a 22HP Kawasaki engine.

Is this breed worth going after compared to the Deere B&S engines or the
Kohler one in the rest of the Cub Cadets?

I have an acre of land with a lot of hills.

I have a mower with a 25hp Kawasaki engine. It's a V-twin vertical shaft and
it's a hoss. It's actually the second such engine on this mower. The first one
was destroyed by a son who didn't think it was important to check the oil, and
didn't think it would hurt to drive it full throttle for about 1/4 mile to tell
me "this thing's knocking". It would still start up and run after that, but he
had burnt every seal out of it and I couldn't keep oil in it.

I found a replacement engine on Ebay, identical but a year or so newer. It came
from - a John Deere zero turn mower. The only difference was the shape of the
muffler and air cleaner. I used my originals so it didn't matter. It's been
running for 2 years now in that mower with absolutely no problems.

The brand of engine isn't as important as taking care of them. Any of the
brands you mention are fine for almost anything you want to do with them, as
long as you don't overload them or let them run out of oil.

Thanx for your response.

I have to assume the first engine was a Kawasaki, then? Please confirm?

Yes, it was also a Kawasaki. I still have it lying in my shop for spare parts
(carburetor, starter, etc).

Sounds like a fun time. How long has it been lying to you?

Thanx
